GRE – Graduate Record Examinations

Validity:

Reporting:

  • On test day, one can designate up to four graduate institutions or fellowship sponsors to receive their scores as part of one’s test fee.
  • If one wishes to send their GRE General Test scores to additional institutions or decides to send scores after test day, one can order Additional Score Reports (ASRs) for a fee (US$30). One can order ASRs online, by mail and by fax. Once they submit their request, it can’t be cancelled, changed or refunded.
  • Processing time period: 5 business days (online); 10 days (mail/fax)
  • With the Score Select® option, one can send scores from Most Recent, All or Any specific test administration of the GRE General Test and/or Subject Tests taken within the 5-year validity period.
  • Some programs require applicants who have taken a GRE test more than once to report the scores from all their GRE test administrations.

Requirements for registration:

  • Valid and acceptable physical ID which matches the First and Last names used when registering for the test
  • Government-issued ID (preferably AADHAAR) for at-home tests and within the country of citizenship and passport for outside of the country of citizenship

Rescheduling:

  • Rescheduling is permitted within the same testing year (July 1–June 30).
  • One must reschedule one’s test registration no later than four days before one’s test date or one’s test fee will be forfeited.
  • There is a fee to reschedule one’s test.
  • One can reschedule via one’s ETS account or contact GRE services.
  • Signature
  • Mailed requests must be received no later than four days prior to one’s scheduled test date.

Cancellation:

If one cancels their test registration no later than four days before one’s test date, they will receive a refund equivalent to half of the original test fee. One can cancel their test online or by calling the appropriate Regional Registration Centre (RRC). If cancelling on phone, one will be asked to provide their appointment confirmation number.

Note: If no questions are answered for a specific measure, then you will receive a No Score (NS) for that measure.
 

Score:

  • Yields a total score on a 200–990 score scale, in 10-point increments, although the score range for any particular Subject Test is usually smaller.
  • Subscores are reported for the Physics and Psychology Tests on a 20–99 score scale, in one-point increments, although the range for any particular Subject Test subscore is usually smaller.
