Lakehead University is a public research university with campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Lakehead University, shortened to Lakehead U, or LU, is non-denominational and provincially supported. It has undergraduate programs, graduate programs, the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, the only internationally accredited (AACSB) business school in northern Ontario, and is home to the western campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

The aim of the program is to encourage the development and integration of feminist teaching, learning, and research within the university community and the community at large.

The field of Women’s Studies has transformed dramatically since its introduction to Lakehead University in 1990. Our Department of Womens Studies takes an interdisciplinary approach to feminism. In Women’s Studies: Learn what social structures and structural inequalities are, and how they work, Analyze transnational relationships of economy, family, labour, gender, colonization, and more, Have dynamic discussions about social justice, Understand the meanings of diversity, equity, gender, intersectionality and social justice, and be able to apply those concepts in the job market. Careers held by our graduates: Journalist, Teachers, Executive Directors, Researchers, Police Officers, Lawyers etc.
